Gary is the best! He is welcoming and professional. I have taken yoga classes with Gary since 2008 and have experienced the benefits of yoga as well as his expertise. I feel physically and emotionally stronger because of this practice with Gary. I have taught school for the past 25 years and recognize that Gary possesses all the right attributes for working with men and women of all ages and physical abilities. If you are considering yoga practice, Quonny Yoga is where you want to be! Heidi Gabrilowitz Gary has a very professional, yet friendly approach to his yoga students. He gives more demonstrations than any other yoga teacher that I have had and he explains the pose thoroughly as well. The cues for alignment are very precise. He helps beginners as well as seasoned practitioners advance in their practice of yoga. Students are encouraged to advance while staying completely in their safety zone. He is very knowledgeable about how to help one modify a pose when it is too challenging or painful because of a recent injury or if one is just beginning the study of yoga. I believe his approach is imperative to injury prevention. I have always felt safe in his classes and he has been very helpful after I developed a shoulder injury in a car accident. He is helping me safely rebuild my shoulder strength in a calming way. I know that I will be able to regain my full practice over time with his assistance. Barb Passy If you want to grow, work with Gary! Gary's teaching style combines humor and compassion. It's not "just yoga." He understands what it is like to work--both on the mat and off the mat. He knows that nothing comes without focus and effort. And he knows how to make your practice more rewarding to your life. Let him know what your goals are and he will help you to achieve them. That's what makes Gary special--he cares about the same things that you care about. Christina Hilton Healing classes even while teaching large groups, Gary is able to tend to his student's individual needs. He is able to recognize that we are all at various places in our practice and is able to gently guide the student further along both physically and mentally through his cues and adjustments (as they are needed). As someone who was told a hip replacement was in my near future, I turned to yoga as a possible alternative. Amy Parker Yoga at its best. Simply the best! Mary G. I just wanted to let you know how much your teaching and the power of yoga really did change my life in the little ways. I went into it skeptical if you remember, my mom dragged me to class and said how much I would like it, and soon I found myself craving the energy that was created within myself during practice. I found self confidence and strength through yoga and I will forever be grateful. Yoga brought peace and harmony into my very stressful life, and I appreciate all of your patience and kind words through teaching. I will continue to practice and follow my heart! Thank you again Gary. Pam M. I am so grateful a friend suggested I attend a Quonny Yoga class with her. From the moment I walked into the Grange, I knew I was where I needed to be. Wendy greeted me with a warm smile and Gary came over and introduced himself. I shared my previous yoga experience and discussed my injuries and limitations with him. Having recently undergone 2 surgeries, a year of chemotherapy and 6 weeks of radiation my body was pretty messed up. Gary assured me that I would be able to regain mobility, reduce my chronic neck, shoulder and neuropathic pain, and improve my overall health. Week by week I saw steady improvement. Gary showed me how to adapt poses, attain proper alignment, increase my range of motion and best of all reduce my pain. You don't need to be injured to benefit from and enjoy the classes at quonny yoga but if you are this is a perfect class for you. Namaste. Tessalina S. I Keep Coming Back! I was living in Germany and on a holiday visit to Rhode Island, a friend recommended Gary's class. That first class a few years ago was fabulous and I could not find anything like it back in Germany. Now that I'm back in the state I'm making sure to attend Gary's class as much as possible. The new studio is beautiful and I feel myself healing in more ways than one. Be well. |

He is a masterful teacher...With over 25 years of yoga experience, Gary was the first to bring a comprehensive practice to light with meaningful purpose and intention. His precision in mindfully creating sequences that maximized my experiences on the mat was focused on healing the body through deep breathing, alignment and connection. Yet, his methods stand apart providing students the tools to elevate and release. He is a true gift to practitioners who are fortunate enough to receive his teachings and guidance. The world needs Gary . Tracey Fried
Amazing teacher in the area! After not doing yoga for quite a while I was nervous going into my first class but Gary made me feel right at home. In the class there were all levels of students so I felt I could be myself and really get into my practice. During the class I felt relaxed in the beautiful studio and afterward I felt both in my body and mind that this was a great beginning and made me want to keep coming! Try Gary's class ASAP he will inspire you! Dana C.
I have to tell you that I love yoga and I attribute that to you. You are a great teacher and I hope to take classes from you again. You have a calmness about you and teach yoga with an ease that radiates into the practice, making it a very enjoyable, relaxing, stressless class. Even your spin class at Fit World was a treat because you brought your Yoga aura into the spin class and made it great. Best of Luck. Paul M. I came to Gary because my backaches were bad and getting worse. As a guy, I felt he would understand. And he did! He got me to use my breath and to strengthen my core to heal my back. No pills for me! Now that I am getting stronger, I feel much younger as well. Thanks Gary! David T.
Gary was my first yoga instructor years ago and he has been a huge inspiration ever since. He infuses his classes with strength training and helps students to reach breakthrough postures. At the same time, he leads students to inner peace. I have thoroughly benefited from Gary's guidance and encouragement and because of it, I teach yoga myself. I am proud to call him my teacher. Lynn I hated exercising! I tried it all and never felt the results that people said I would. This includes two yoga classes, which were in a large class so I had no idea what I was doing. Then I found Gary, his classes are great and personalized. He has a passion for yoga and is sincerely concerned about each of his students. I have terrible posture causing upper back pain. Nothing has ever helped me until I started yoga with Gary. His precise instruction has made me conscious of how I work with my body in healing my back. My back and shoulders have never felt so flexible, which keeps me coming back because this is the first time any physical activity has ever felt beneficial to me. THANK YOU GARY! P.L.
Thank you Gary. Your classes are my favorite part of each day. You inspire me to make better choices and lead a healthier life. You lead by example and you have a great sense of humor. I like the strength that you bring into your classes. Since I started working with you, all aspects of my life have improved, from my personal life to my professional life. I look forward to your classes and am very glad you are back in town!! Kathy O. Five years ago, I fell and broke my tailbone – couldn’t do anything for a year. Then I met Gary and started taking classes at his studio-this transformed me. Gary’s classes are so healing and Gary is an incredibly safe teacher to work with. As a teacher, Gary brings much experience from the Martial Arts and this makes his classes extremely efficient, strong and beautifully heartfelt. I owe the healing transformation I've experienced to Gary and this divine Forrest yoga practice. Namaste Barb
I was lucky to find a yoga class within a short distance of my house. The class was a different yoga experience from what people usually talk about. This class with Gary teaching in a warm, fine voice, gently leads you through gentle poses that you use and modify to suit your ability and health. I am not young and not athletic, but was looking for a strengthening, stretching experience. Through deep breathing techniques and the poses I feel fantastic after the class, more agile and pain free. This class could change your life for the better without the sweating and pain of other exercises. I could not be happier with it. One on One Private-
Steve T. I'm a 67 year old guy who had a debilitating stroke 18 months ago. Rehab gave me a little bit of mobility back, but it was limited and so was I. I needed a cane to walk, etc. I'd become a very stiff, off balance, sedentary old fart afraid to move fast or try anything new. And then I met Gary at a free yoga class. I heard it'd be a lecture about the benefits of yoga. I could handle that. Wrong. There were these limber people all over the floor in contorted positions...and they were older than me. Much older In some cases. And they moved fluidly like seven year old kids. After some lame efforts to bow out and some gentle persuasion -plus a chair - I tried yoga a little bit. It was kinda nice. After It was over, Gary convinced me that with a little one on one training, I too could move like these graceful people who should be stiff and off balance like me. Yeah right. I had come to believe the doctors that nothing could restore movement and function to strokified limbs after 6 months. But I figured what the hell. I'd try it to shut up the people trying to convince me of the body's resiliency. I came to private training with Gary. And wow. Like holy cow, wow. I love yoga. Love it, I move better, breathe easier and feel alive and energized. My strokified limbs have movement and flexibility that I thought was long gone. My balance is much improved and so is my attitude. I'm just a curmudgeon now instead of a stiff old guy. I love Gary. He's got the patience of a buddha and the tenacity of a bulldog. I love yoga, I Don't know how I lived without it or what I was scared of, And you will love it to If you give it a try. I guarantee it'll make you a better person. If you've had a stroke or some other physical injury, you've got to try this kind of magical approach to regaining your movement this yoga works! Namaste |

The best!! During 25 years learning yoga, I’ve had countless teachers. And though many of them had unique qualities and brought me to various awakenings, I now have found the overall best. Gary’s incredibly detailed cuing and astute corrections are, to me, the most important characteristics that place him in the vanguard of yoga today.
His attention to sequencing, room temperature, props, and position adjustments makes for a consistently extensive sweaty workout, which succeeds totally without struggling. Gary gives plenty of personal attention, and gets you to the “juice of the asana” as quickly, effortlessly, and safely as yogically possible, all in a very comfortable, newly finished, heated studio. He even DJ’s a soundtrack while teaching. I only wish there was more time to hold each asana, but given the demands of our modern world, the class is as extraordinarily relaxing and rejuvenating. Bottom line: Gary provides an unsurpassed experience that is consistently remarkable.

Finally I learned something !!!! I've been doing yoga for many, many years and then I tried Gary's class.
In the first class I learned how to use my arms correctly, to wake them up and use them in a way I never knew was possible. All these years I've been doing downward dog but not building any strength in my arms due to hyperextension! I actually didn't know any other way was possible. I am very thankful to have found a teacher who is ultra professional and sensitive to my needs as a student, on all levels, physically, emotionally & spiritually.
